Who may use minoxidil topical solution 5%?
Minoxidil topical solution 5% is for use only by men. Minoxidil topical solution 5% may be appropriate for you if you are a male at least 18 years old and experiencing gradually thinning hair or gradual hair loss on the top of the scalp (vertex only). It is not intended for frontal baldness or a receding hairline. The common inherited thinning or hair loss process begins slowly and may become noticeable only after years of gradual loss.
Will minoxidil topical solution 5% work for me?
The amount of hair regrowth is different for each person. Not everyone will respond to minoxidil topical solution 5%. The response to minoxidil topical solution 5% cannot be predicted. It is unlikely anyone will be able to grow back all their hair.
How soon can I expect results from using minoxidil topical solution 5%?
Since normal hair usually grows only 1/2 to 1 inch per month, hair regrowth with minoxidil topical solution 5% also takes time. Results may be seen as early as 2 months with twice daily use. For some men, it may take at least 4 months for results to be seen. If you do not see any results after 4 months, stop using minoxidil topical solution 5%. When you first begin to use minoxidil topical solution 5%, your hair loss may increase temporarily for up to 2 weeks. This is likely a sign that you are getting rid of old hairs in order to regrow more new hairs. This temporary increase in hair loss is expected and is a part of the process for how minoxidil topical solution 5% regrows hair. Remember, this increased hair loss is temporary. However, if it continues after two weeks, see your doctor.
What happens if I completely stop using minoxidil topical solution 5%? Will I keep the new hair?
Continuous use of minoxidil topical solution 5% is needed to maintain hair regrowth. If you stop using minoxidil topical solution 5%, you will lose your newly regrown hair in 3 to 4 months.

Same manufacturer as Kirkland brand, Perrigo. Made in Israel. Same inserts, same bottles (see lid) just different artwork on the labels and box. I’ve been using Kirkland brand for maybe 3 years to slow or stop any hair loss. It works for me. My hair got thicker. I did not have much hair loss to begin with. Sorry I don’t have before/after photos.

But I still got a lot of hair. For the past 20 years I religiously have used minoxidil on the front of my head at the hairline. And in my humble opinion it has made a big difference in my appearance (ok so I am not all that pretty even with the hair). I do find that minoxidil makes the hair more coarse which results in an overall appearance of thicker hair. Alls I know is that I’ll be lying in that casket with a full head of hair…..UNLESS of course they decide to cremate me.

Update Jan 19th 2019This product is great. Check out my 8ish month photo compared to my first. May not work for everyone but thankfully it has for me.Updated October 9th at the 60 day mark. I’m blown away by the results. Look at my pics and decide for yourself.I had already came to terms with going bald so this was a nice surprise.Update September 9th, 31 days using product.Well, the pictures speak for themselves. I was very surprised to see the results. I’ll definitely keep going.Also, even tho I apply liberally twice daily I’m still on my first bottle so the 6 month supply will last me longer than 6 months.I did notice a bit of shedding about two weeks in but nothing major.So far I’d highly recommend this product.Ok I’m going to take one for the home team and keep updating throughout the first six months.I’m going to use twice a day as recommended.I’ll update once a month.This is my first time using a hairloss product.My hairloss has been gradual over the last severa years.

When I was 25 I started to lose my hair in the back part of my head! Back then it didn’t bother me because it was no noticeable. As time progressed it got worst! Being a Hispanic you know you have to try all the natural herbal things first, well nothing worked! I just came to terms with being partially bald and totally gave up! On October 2018 a Friend from work told me about rogaine and I looked into it! Since nothing ever worked I didn’t have faith on it so I went for the cheap knockoff brand! $44 dollars for brand name is ridiculous!!! Long story short 4 months later I am amazed with the results! I am 30 and feel 25 again lol! It works I am happy and didn’t pay crazy money!! You must do it every day 2 times a day !!!

My hair was very thin on the top front of my head. In certain light, you could see my scalp. I tried combing it over, but, it was getting worse.I started using this product every day. It’s been 7 months and new hair has grown in. My hairdresser notice the difference. You do have to follow the directions and use it faithfully. Won’t work if you skip days. The only draw back is that it does leave an oily residue. But, I can deal with that, because I no longer am going bald!

As good as Kirkland and brand-name minoxidilI don’t find this oily at all, compared to some of the other reviews. Suggest that you buy a very small spray bottle and pour the fluid in that and sprayed onto your scalp. This way, the dropper never touches your hair and will always be sterile and clean.

It actually works! Yes it is at 8 your scalp and it takes a while but if you stick with it your hair will grow back as will your eyebrows ladies! Don’t listen to the ads that say Just For Men or just for women use 5% if you’re losing your hair! Instructions by my dermatologist! Twice a day also! I found twice a day was too irritating. My dermatologist gave me a special medicine to ease the irritation and a special shampoo that helps greatly. Anything is worth getting your hair back as a woman particularly. I think the problem is people don’t give it enough time. 30 years ago I remember promoting this product to my clients who are losing their hair and nobody seemed to try it. I never thought the day would come when my thick curly hair wood fall out in clumps. Not only did it fall out in clumps but it left giant bald spots and no one could find the reason. Finally after 2 years someone sent me to a dermatologist after I begged. I guess if you’re not dying these things aren’t important to your doctors. They don’t worry about the mental aspect of it. It works on 80% of patience I am informed. I thought after 2 years it was too late for me because the sooner you start the more success you have however I started growing hair where I never had hair before like in the recession Temple area! So there you go. More misinformation. I recommend anyone to give it three to four months and if it doesn’t work forget about it! Forget about it LOL but I feel very strongly having been and the beauty industry for quite some time. This stuff is Magic

I had hair thinning and went to a dermatologist to figure out what was causing my hair to fall out. It turns out, there’s a thing called “female patter baldness”! My dermatologist told me to use the male version of this. I’m not sure why, but she was pretty adamant that I not use the one for women. My hair has grown back and is thicker again. Hairdressers comment on how nice my hair is. I can now grow it out longer (thin hair doesn’t look good with any length) and it feels good to have it on my neck because I can feel the weight of normal hair instead of the very light, very thin hair I had before.

I have been using Basic Care Minoxidil 5% liquid for more than 6 months now. I find it works as well as any other store brands that I have used over the years, which are: Target “Up”, Walmart Equate and Kirkland’s. The price is very reasonable, and I will continue buying it.I am female, and use the drops all along my thinning hairline. My dermotologist recommended that I use the 5% solution, even though it claims to be “For Men”. There is nothing male specific in the formulation, it is just simply stronger. I have been able to maintain my hairline because of it. If it causes dandruff and dryness, apply a head oil before showering, and make a sugar scrub with your shampoo, to eliminate the dandruff. My scalp definitely requires more TLC because of this solution, but it is manageable.
